I had the esteem pleasure of speaking at our state capital this last Friday. Fifty years ago the Civil RIghts Act was signed into law, it was a landmark time in our nations history, that continues to be tried and tested in our courts today.
As I stood to speak, which I felt completely blessed to be allowed, I found myself moved by a man who spoke of peace, whom shaped my thoughts as I have navigated the advocay of equality.
How did one mans words shape our countries laws, shape a history that is so vibrant and rich today, and taught so many along the way. I stood behind that podium and silently thanked Dr. King for being my inspiration, and for teaching me the true meaning of the word Peace.
